2. What data we process
Server logs
When you visit the site, our web server and hosting provider automatically record technical information such as your IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested, referring address, browser type and operating system. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies of its own. WordPress may set strictly necessary cookies, for example if you log in or leave a comment, and our hosting provider may set technical cookies needed for security or load balancing. These are used only to make the site work.
Outbound clicks to the advertiser
Links to Brandit include tracking parameters, such as a click identifier, so that the advertiser can attribute visits and enquiries to this site. When you click such a link, you leave our site and the advertiser processes data under its own privacy policy.
Contact by phone or post
If you contact us by phone or post, we process the details you give us, such as your name, contact information and the content of your message, to respond to you.
3. Legal bases
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): operating, securing and improving the site, and attributing advertiser referrals.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): where we ask for it, for example for any optional cookies or embedded content, if introduced.
- Legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR): where we must keep records by law.
- Steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): responding to your enquiries.
4. Retention
Server logs are kept for a limited period, normally no longer than 30 days, unless needed longer to investigate a security incident. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and meet any legal obligations.
5. Third parties
- Hosting provider: stores and serves the site and processes server logs on our behalf under a data processing agreement.
- Google Fonts: fonts are loaded from Google servers, which receive your IP address and browser information when the page loads.
- Google Maps: our Contact page embeds a Google Maps map. Loading it transfers data, including your IP address, to Google.
- Brandit (the advertiser): when you follow a link to its store, Brandit processes your data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.
Some of our articles contain embedded YouTube videos. YouTube is a Google service. The videos are loaded in privacy-enhanced mode from youtube-nocookie.com. When you play a video, YouTube/Google may set cookies and process data, such as your IP address and viewing activity, under Google’s own privacy policy.
Some of these providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where they do, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data rectified;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict processing in certain circumstances;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- data portability, where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
